OK I need some help with my Macbook.

I was online (WiFI) and I walked away with Safari still running. I came back an hour or so later and the screen looks like it’s asleep (its really dark but you can still see the web site that I was one last) and I can hear the HD making sounds.

So I tried to wake it up, force quite but nothing changes.

Any ideas?

Sounds kinda like your backlight may have burned out. Not too likely with a young machine, but possible.

Try moving your mouse up to the top left... just move it way up and left, to be sure its there. Then click... if you can faintly make out the Apple Menu being pulled down, then it would seem all is still working, but you have no backlight.

You might want to try restarting to see if it revives the backlight.

i had a similar problem on an ibook, and it was the reed switch. it was stuck in the "shut" position and the backlight would never turn on...
