I bought a new G4 ibook in aug. of 2005. Until about two weeks ago the battery health was at about 75%. In the last two weeks it has dropped to about 30% battery heath and although it says 30% when fully charged it only runs for about 15 mins on battery. This battery was part of the recall and the new one is on the way, but im wondering if the rapid decline in battery heath is something i did or if that was normal. Thanks for the help.

How many cycles do you have on the old battery? If you have a lot of cycles, it might start to drop out quickly.

Check out this information: How to prolong lithium-based batteries

The charts show several hundred cycles of use before losing , so cycle count could be a factor, or maybe your battery just "went bad" with some sort of change in internal resistance or a bad cell or something like that.

Not to be a worrywart, but if I had a new battery on the way due to a recall and my old battery suddenly had a rapid drop in capacity, I'd be inclined to pull it out until the new one arrived. But that's just my opinion.
