So I have my macbook and my new iMac. I do most of my client work outside of the home, but when I get home, I'd like to have all my emails, calendars, programs, music, new files, etc sync up with my iMac . . vice versa, when i'm at home doing work, I'd like to be able to sync my iMac with the macbook, so I'm ready to go to a clients . . . .

does anyone know of any software (besides .mac) that can do this?

Thanks!

Nope. Unless you have your own FTP server, which isn't very easy.

I'd really look into the 'rsync' command, I use it to sync my work computer, home computer, and laptop. MySync uses this protocol IIRC. I haven't used it, but it sounds like what you're looking for.
