this would be awesome if they made this for the original powerbooks... going on these long flights, this would kill the time for me.

Why wouldn't it work with the original? The MBP adapter was 85W and the PBs was 60W. This should work for both unless Apple deliberately changed something.

Nevermind. I think this kind of rules out backwards compatibility:
Important notes:

Using the MagSafe Airline Power Adapter provides power for your computer but does not charge the battery.
The MagSafe Airline Power Adapter is not compatible with automobile power ports.

Change something like, say, the connection to the computer?

I think he wants to know if Apple made an airline adaptor for the original PowerBooks, not if this one will work, (it obviously won't).

The ORIGINAL PowerBooks? Like, the ones from 1991? Isn't it a bit late to be asking?

Regardless, airline adapters are widely available for every PowerBook and iBook model -- it's only the MagSafe-connected models that were left in the dust until Apple came out with this.

Targus and iGo both make universal (air/car/home) adapters that work on pre-MagSafe Macs. So do many, many other vendors. You should have no trouble finding one in retail or by mail.
