do you think the new macbook pro 15 inch only has options for 4200-5400 HD's as for heat issues in earlier models?

No. The power consumption/heat dissipation difference between the 5400 and 7200RPM drives is about a tenth of a watt (~10%).

Is the GPU (X1600) still underclocked?
