My LCD cracked, and I spent two days trying to get Apple/Apple service to replace it under warrant as I didn't drop it but to no avail.

They are quoting a price of $820 to get it replaced at the service center. I was thinking of getting one off ebay and installing it myself. Is it particularly hard? I have surgeon hands but have never taken apart a laptop. I have looked at ifixit.com but these types of things are easier said than done.

Or should I the service center to replace it for $120 in labor.

It's like my hot girlfriend has a new scar on her face. Do you live with it? Do you get her plastic surgery? Or do you get a new wife.

Interesting analogy, I think.

In any case, it's not that hard to replace the panel, but you have to make sure you get the correct replacement panel. If the machine doesn't recognize the panel, you'll have problems. Apple uses two or three manufacturers. Get the top case off so you can see which manufacturer it is and try to get the same panel.

$800 wow, you could probabally get $600-$650 on ebay for it broken and spend the 820 + 650 and get a NEW one that has no issue.
I hope I was helpful, if not please help me.....
