I just took the plunge and ordered my first Mac. I opted for a refurb. Macbook Pro. I was just wondering if it comes in all of the original packaging just like a new Macbook would? Thanks.

No, it'll come in a brown cardboard "Apple Refurbished" box. Something like this: Unpacking a Refurbished Apple MacBook at Macsupport

It's nothing fancy, but the money saved is well worth it.

That's basically the one thing that Apple takes away from you: the original packaging. But other than that, you get a like-brand-new Apple computer for a fraction of the cost. Enjoy it!

My 15" Powerbook came in original packaging (though the box was slightly battered).

As stated previously, your computer will come in a brown box instead of the new boxes. That's about the only difference.

I'm on my third refurbished Mac at the moment and none of them have ever had any problems at all. Great deals to be had when you can save several hundred bucks!

Thanks, everybody. I actually just received my Macbook. It didn't come in the original packaging but everything else is pretty good. I don't know if they did it on purpose or not but they bumped up the hard drive from 80 to 100 and ram from 512 to 1 mb, so I'm pretty happy.

The only problem I can find is that three of the keys on the bottom right are slightly raised higher than they should be. I haven't decided whether I should return it or not but I probably won't.

Mine came in refurb packaging, but defective with a warped lid. When I RAM'd it they told me refurbs were sold out. So I ordered a C2D from Amazon, one day delivery.
