I posted last week sometime checking in on any problems the current MBP's, which at the time were rev. A because apple was offering to replace my blackbook with one due to numerous unsuccessful repairs, and a replacement machine that developed the same problems. I really got lucky in timing as the replacement machine I received today is the Core 2 Duo 2.16 standard configuration with a glossy screen. I have to say of all the Albooks, and MacBook's non-pro, the fit and finish of this machine is far superior, absoluetly no complaints.

Amazing! Congratulations!
I mean it's too bad you had to go thru 2 bad black MBs, but Apple did the right thing in giving you a superior replacement.
Post back with some details on the new MBP!!!
And you might wanna go out and buy a lottery ticket?

The thought has crossed my mind too. I wouldn't though.

Unfortunately, accidental or non accidental, if you damage the machine which causes it to break, you're screwed. Especially if you dent it.

It seems like it could be done in such a way as to make it look like an existing problem. For example, if I shorted out the inverter for the backlight on my MacBook. It is one of those things I think about, and never do because of how much it would bug me while I was using the free, upgraded replacement. Also, I would be worried about getting caught and being stuck with a broken laptop.

This machine is dramatically cooler than the macbooks I had, it is averaging around 72C, even under a heavy load it didn't move much from that temp, the fan(s) compensated.

You got a good upgrade there HarriganC. It is good that Apple did this for you.
I was upgraded also from the 2.0 256vram, 1GB( but added another 1GB of my own) 7,200RPM MBP CD to the 2.33, 2GB, 256 vram, 160 HD, MBP C2D model. I was offered a new replacement on my MBP CD model that i bought in March as it was to problematic to say the least.
I to got lucky with getting the C2D model also. Apple shipped me an inferior CD model lower speced than what i owned already as a new replacement so it has (i have to use it until my C2D arrives) to go back and i just caught the new refreshed models because of that.
