MBP Whine through speakers

It didn't really bother me before, but now when I have my laptop hooked up to external speakers whenever I am home, the whine actually gets channeled through the speakers and its pretty annoying.

I guess now I will take it in to get fixed. I have not seen any threads on this lately. Is that because everyone has gotten thiers fixed?

What is the turnaround time on this if it's taken to a Apple store?

I noticed when I remove the second 3.5mm connection (one green and one black), the wihne does not get transmitted through the speakers. With just the headphone input in, I could only hear the whine coming from the mbp itself.
