powerbook G4 w/ Sony W600i Bluetooth Modem

I've been having some troubles trying to pair my sony w600i with my powerbook to use as a bluetooth modem. Sometimes when it trys to dial out it gives me a can not get a carrier signal message, or a not dialtone message. Are there any specific settings that I need to do to get it to work? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
