I just replaced my 15" PBG4/1.5 with a Macbook Core2Duo 2.33 and while I don't have any numbers, I can honestly say that the MBP is screamingly faster while encoding DVDs in iDVD.
Something I noted, though - I remember encoding DVDs on my old dual G4/.1.25 powermac, and noticing that iDVD fully utilized and maxed-out both processors. But when I checked the activity monitor on my MBP while I was encoding with iDVD, it was only hitting each core half way, like normal applications.
Like I said, it's very very fast, but kinda sad that it's not taking advantage of both cores anymore.

More extensive more meaningful tests are reportedly planned, including vs. PB G4.

Maybe it is taking advantage of both cores, just not maxxing them out, meaning the bottleneck may be somewhere else, perhaps i/o.

Yeah, after I wrote that post I started another dvd project just to test it out. When I check my Activity Monitor during the actual movie encoding, iDVD will occasionally hop over 100% cpu usage, but for the most part, it stays around 90-95%, with assorted other processes taking up maybe another 5-10% of processor time (I have no other apps open.)
I swear on my dual 1.25 g4 that I was getting 120% to 140% processor usage in iDVD. I'll try running a test tomorrow. Maybe make a new thread to so I don't hijack this one.

For those interested I posted a benchmark comparison between my PB G4 1.67 GHz and my 2.33 GHz C2D MBP here.
