I'm new to the whole technology world, well, not new exactly, but I would like opinions on the new MacBook Pro.
I was wondering if it was a good laptop, and if it was easy to use? Like, software, internet and whatever else wise. I've read the reviews on the Yahoo Tech site, but I need a bit more, persuasion.
Of course, it will take a while for me to get the actual money for the thing, but I need to learn now, else wise when it comes to the time I need my own computer, and a portable one at that, I would like to have the money behind me.
Ugh, I'm a babbler, but I need to get my point across, so maybe, just maybe, someone here will realize that they have been in the same position, and give some friendly advice!
I'm also a noob, I realize that. Cut me some slack people! I just like the emoticons...

I would probably say it depends on what you plan to use the computer for.. I wouldn't buy a mac for gaming, but I have been using them for design work.. etc
I find it's easy to use, though I've been using a mac for years

My MacBook Pro is awsome for games... Though I do use Boot camp to run them.

As already stated, it depends upon your needs. For me the new C2D was perfect. As a scientist most of my data analysis is done on the Mac side, while a sizable fraction of my modeling efforts are done the windoze side, and so having VM capabilities is a significant improvement. It always me to religate my Dell Latitude to instrument interfacing and doing both my modeling and analysis on one machine.
As a note added in proof, the MBP and PBs are very common in the science community.
well done Apple!

Looks like you are a general user with no specific requirements so any laptop would suit you. However, with a mac you get the most stabel operating system in OSX, no viruses (as yet), and you also get a huge amount of free software such as the video editing suite, email client etc... It is easy to use and elegant. you also get the stylish macbook pro hardware which is so much nicer than any other manufacturer.
i suppose the question would reduce to getting a mcbook or macbook pro. that would require examining your needs in terms of graphic processing/editing, screen size & harddrive space.
you should go to an apple store and then you can play around with the various models available. im sure you will be impressed with apple more so than with any other.
give us some more info on your specific needs
oh BTW... nice to see another aussie here! greetings from Adelaide
cheers
rob.

MBP is great for everything. It replaces a desktop quite well because it's just so frickin fast. Try to get 2gbs of ram though, as memory makes a world of a difference in OS X.
If you're a gamer or use photoshop, go with the 256 video card. It renders beautifully.
Good luck!
