So a few weeks ago my computer just stopped working for me, when I tried turning it on it was just a gray screen. Well I took it to the Apple store in my local area, and got it fixed up and everything. I don't really know what the problem was (About 7 things in the computer replaced, I know the casing and superdrive were two of the things). But I think it had to do with the mother board because I now have a different processor. I got a white one with a 2.0 ghz processor and now it's one with 1.83 ghz processor. Under my battery where it says the processor, ram and hard drive it says 2.0 so I'm hoping I can take it into an Apple store and they'll fix it for me. Will this be the case? I'd be extremely mad if they say the won't fix it. I know they just didn't give me a new one because there are scratches on the top that I accidently did to it. This kinda angers me, but as long as they fix it I'll be alright with it.

To get a definitive check on this do the following:

1) click the blue/grey apple in the top left corner.
2) select 'About this mac'.

This should give you info on what is actually being recognised by the system. If they gave you a 1.8GHz when you bought a 2 then that is just unacceptable and should be dealt with immediately by apple. perhaps the technician who worked on your pc is a little clumsy...

And if there was 7 things gone bad then im sure that is grounds for a replacement lol...

Maybe call Apple Customr Relations and explain the situation etc... who knows they may award you a new macbook... bt dont get your hopes up lol... its is in no way guaranteed. Just a suggestion.

cheers,
Rob.

Yea, that's how I figured out it was a 1.8. What sucks about this is I'm at college, and getting to the Apple store isn't hard but I really can't do without a computer for another week. So you think the customer relations would be better than Apple Care? What's the number of that?

I beleive the number is 1800-MY-APPLE. You can follow the promts from here to customer relations.

I believe that these are better because they deal with the clerical issues and have the authority to award you with a replacement if they deem it appropriate or they will escalate your case and monitor it to make sure it gets done proper. The apple care are technicians and only deal with troubleshooting.

Yeah i know your pain with being without a computer... it makes everything alot harder wether in college or industry.

I think it is terrible you had so many thing go wrong (7 things) and now another mishap... thats gotta count in your favour for something

goodluck!

regards,
rob

Thanks. I'll have to give them a call tomorrow. I'm not really mad about it, the computer still works fine, but can be slower at times and I just want to get it back to how I had it.

If there's any care from anyone for what eneded up happening.. I ended up having to call apple care to get it all fixed up. After explaining it to them they transfered me to someone else and he asked me a few questions and told me that they'd fix it. They were very polite about the whole deal. So my MacBook has a little trip back to the apple store once again.

In my opinion the Macbook has been the most problematic Mac ever made by Apple. Good luck with your repair!
