After lots of waiting for the updates it's time to get me a shiny new Macbook, the only question 1gig RAM vs 2gig. Anyone noticed a real difference running with the extra?

I still have the stock 512mb and it lags sometimes. 1gb would be much better, but again 2gb is double so it's going to perform that much better. It also depends on how much you multi task, and with what programs.

Speaking for my friend, who upgraded from 1 to 2 GB...

HUGE difference. Go for 2.

I just upgrade from 1 to 2 and I actually noticed an improvement in battery life, especially when using Parallels, because the computer isn't caching to the HDD as much. 1 is fine, but 2 does make a noticeable difference.

I (and others) have said it before and I will say it yet again:

"You can *never* have too much RAM."

If you can afford it, get it.

With the dual-cores using the matched RAM, the graphics using shared memory and some programs not yet being universal binary, it makes more sense than it usually does to max it out if you can manage it. It is not something that you are going to regret later.
