Hello everyone.

I ordered a 17" MBP online but cancelled it after being told it would take almost a month to get it to me. I thought I'd visit my local Apple store to find out if they were getting them in any sooner when the salesperson told me that he didn't know when they were going to get them in......

Anyway, whilst I was there he was telling me that they had a fantastic deal for University students.

They offered me;

1) 17" MacBook Pro (£1,899)
2) Applecare (£279)
3) Pro Care (£79)
4) .Mac subscription (£69)
5) Free Printer (£60)

all for £1,800... thats £100 cheaper than the normal retail price.

I came home and ordered mine via telephone.

Sounds great. But is the Macbook Pro they offered you in that deal a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo? I'm wondering if Apple is just trying to clear inventory through student bundles.

I am getting a C2D not a Core Duo. Mind you, they were initially trying to flog me a Core Duo system telling me there isn't much difference between the two models.
