just switched from thinkpad workstation to mbp, and placed the order earlier this week. but yesterday i went to two apple stores located in S. Cali and I have noticed the heat issue with mbp, or it is not?

I stayed at the first store for about 30 mins testing 2 mbp c2d, and both of them were "HOT". esp around area above the vent by the display. even thou it is a bit cooler than the mbp core duo, but still it burns my figure, and much more hot than my T60P.

Then i went to the 2nd store, i have noticed that two of the three are as hot as the ones in the first store, but the last one was soooo cool. I thought maybe it was on sleepin mod b4 i used it, thus i played with it for about 20 mins and try to get it loaded. but it still a lot cooler than other 2. and finally i noticed the magsafe was unplug and it was on its battery. Then i asked the employee works there but he was extremely rude and did not explain anything but "it is like dat"
So how do you guys think?

thx in advanced.

I was at the Apple store today in Novi looking at laptops. I too noticed the heat on the MacBook Pros. This was supposed to be resolved on the new Core2's. There are reports that the new ones are 40 degrees cooler running. I moved to another table that had MacBook Pro's on display, and these were all way cooler. In fact, they seemed to be generating no heat at all. So then I checked the system profiler in each one. all of the hot ones were core duo's and all of the really cool ones were core2's. So you might want to check this if you go back to the store.
They were using the old duo cores on display I guess because they looked identical and most people wouldnt know the difference.
You can find our which model it is by clicking on the apple icon in the upper left hand corner and then click where the pull down menu says "about this Mac.

ic...i think you are right, i assumed that the display models were all C2D since the tags on the side said "Core 2 Duo". I will go to the store tomorrow and check them out again.

yeah, check it out again because when i went to the apple store last wk, the sign said c2d but when i checked the mbp's there, only 1 of the 2 were c2d. i'm also using the c2d mbp right now and heat is not an issue.
