Anyone have problems seeing things on this screen? I wonder if some things might appear too small. While playing with one at the Apple store, text in Word sure seemed small. I like the idea of having so much screen real estate, but I am concerned about eye fatigue.

Word has many zoom settings that work well. Browsers let you increase text size, and email programs usually let you set the text size as well. I normally browse one setting above default, and set my email at 12-point for reading and composing. I find the native resolution pleasant on my 15" MBP C2D. I combat (and more importantly prevent) eye fatigue by increasing the default text size for my most common applications. I did this as well on my 12" powerbook G4 with a resolution of 1024x768.
