I'm relatively new to Macs and have noticed that whenever a new system comes out such as the updated MacBook or MacBook Pro that then there is a line of refurbished macs that come out which seem to be the previous generation systems and of course they are cheaper.
My question, are these leftover inventory that Apple is clearing or are these actual refurbished machines which were sent in and refurbished? Or is the case that it could be either of these? From what I see it seems like these come with warranty so are likely very good deals if you don't need the latest and greatest.

They all come with the same warranty as a new machine.

I doubt Apple has much stock built up; I'd guess they're mostly refurbs.

whoa whoa whoa! the latest and the greatest will be available as refurbs very soon now. like while the latest and greatest are available new. the previous model refurbs do usually come down a little in price when newer ones are released.

Not sure about the refurbished Macs, but I would assume it would be the same as how I bought my refurbished 3G iPod right after the 4G iPods came out.

It was brand new. My guess is that Apple switched boxes on me to a brown cardboard box and that was it.

Refurbished or new, really its all the same from Apple. My MacBook is refurbished and has had no problems compared to many who bought new
