is there anything i should be concerned about? i want a black one, and 1100 is better than 1500.

That is not a terrible deal. I would probably go with an Apple refurbished unit, however.

I would agree. The refurb is 1100, and while you only get 512mb RAM, you get a full year warranty.

I went to the apple store on thursday and they quoted me 1199 for the brand new Core Duo BlackBook, but I decided 1399 (student discount) for the C2D was a better deal.

To be fully honest, in some cases a refurb model is better than a new model as the refurbed unit has been fully inspected, where a new unit is pretty much shipped out the door with the assumption that it's 100% funcitonal...

I dunno if this holds true in the MacBook case though, as some of the hardware problems are seemingly more persistant (random shutdown/screen flickering)...

I just bought one from MacMall on the 8th (arrives today). They, then, had a $100 mail in rebate on the $1,299 C2D Macbook. I believe their rebate has dropped to $75 now.

They also had a $70 mail in rebate on Parallels (when you buy with a new Mac - so $10 net cost).

I hate mail in rebates, but the prices are good to begin with so the rebates will just be a bonus (I know, some people say good luck getting checks from MacMall - we will see I guess).
