i heard that the more ram you have the less heat your macbook pro will produce. is this true?

In terms of the hard drive not thrashing all the time, yes.

Where did you here that? The only way it *might* produce less heat would be because the hard disk wouldn't need to be accessed as much, but whenever you add more components to a circuit, more power is needed, resulting in more heat needing to be dissipated.

However much you may feel this in your heart, if the hard drive does less paging because there's more RAM then the HD will generate less heat and thus the whole computer will be cooler. This may not be a large change, but it WILL be a change.

I too would like to find out where this specifically came from so I can see what else it might say.
