I'm in Canada and would like recommendations as to insurance in addition to AppleCare that I could obtain to cover risks such as accidents, theft , etc.

My previous laptop died due to an accidental coffee spill, and I wasn't covered. I'd rather be protected if something similar (or worse) happens to my new macbook pro.

appreciate any and all recommendations.

I used to insure my laptop via my home and car insurance. It cost about $100.00 per thousand (cost of the laptop) so it was relatively expensive. I may live to regret it but I recently cancelled the insurance after paying for it for the last 7 or so years. I keep my laptop locked up when not at home, always make sure that the laptop bag is on the floor and I keep liquids away.

I don't know if this company covers Canadians (don't know why they wouldn't!), but I use Safeware for my laptop. In fact, the premium just came in the other day. I live in Illinois and it's $120 a year -- covers the stuff you're afraid of, such as spills, accidents and I BELIEVE -- theft. I'm pretty sure the website is safeware.com.
