I was given a dead French version clamshell (family M2453) that I think is a 366 since it had a 6gig HD in it. On boot it shows blinking folder icon. I can get to open firmware prompt but learn nothing there.
The machine won't boot from any disc I can get a hold of. Since all I want to use the machine for is Linux,I tried to boot into a linux install disk(yellow dog)but that fails after messages such as
OOPS: kernel access of bad area, sig 11
install exited abnormally recieved signal 11
After talking with a few people it was decided it was either HD, logic board or memory. I got a HD cheap so switched it, same thing. Since memory comes soldered on these things I assume a logic board switch would cover the other two.
Question is: Will a 300mhz logic board work if the machine came witha 366? I'm not sure what machine this is anyway, except that the HD I took out was 6 gig.

if it's not a firewire model, the 300mhz board should be the same
