hey guys, i have a powerbook G4 titanium and it is really messed up. the harddrive is failing, and the body is really damaged as in dented and scratched. i am about to send it into applecare to get the harddrive fixed, but i had an idea. Do u think that if i somehow rendered my powerbook useless, they would just replace my whole powerbook with a used or new one, because i am so sick of mine. do u think i could just go into osx, find a firmware download, install it, reboot, pull the plug and take the battery out when it is flashing and that would brick it?? do u think they would just be too lazy to replace the logic board and just give me a new one?

Maybe if you pay them $2000. Sorry, doesn't work that way.

Applecare doesn't cover damage just defects!

Homeowners or Safeware insurance would, but insurance Fraud is a FEDERAL CRIME!

I think he might mean that this person must spend $2000 to buy a new machine.

No, Apple is not going to magically give you a new machine because your old machine is bricked.

Yeah I was giving him a hard time. Apple doesn't trade your old, dead computer for a brand new one. They have a business to run.

Besides being morally wrong, Apple would never do that. Time for the lockĀ®, methinks.

Why not just buy a new MacBook? Even the slowest, cheapest one will be a million times better than the TiBook...
