Have we reached the point where the best current Apple laptops would beat my powermac G5? (Late 2004, 2.0ghz, 1GB ram, 128mb graphics.) Assuming the MBP wasn't running with the disadvantage of Rosetta. I'm just not that good at interpreting benchmarks - just talking about everyday usage. And assuming both had the same RAM and VRAM.

Just interested to know....

Depends on the application/task.

The G5 will win for LINPACK flops or RC5 encryption, but the CD will win for H.264 encoding or SPECmarks.

There are plenty of comparison benchmarks on the internet between similar machines.
