I got a new 15" MBP as soon as they upgraded to the C2D, and right out of the box I was getting kernel panics consistently after about 2 hours of usage. I ran the Apple Hardware test off the CD and got all manner of failure messages. I also used an app called Rember and got the same errors: Solid bits, Block sequential, Checkerboard, bit flip, walking zeros... all showing "Failure" (I have 2GB RAM installed by apple)

STUPIDLY unaware of the 14-day exchange policy, I called up Applecare and ordered the mail-in repair service, thinking it would be a simple matter for them to switch my RAM for me. A few days later I got it back with a note saying that their geniuses couldn't find a problem, so they did nothing.

It still crashes after about 2 hours of use, but the apple hardware test doesn't show a problem anymore, however, Rember still does.

I did an erase/install (several times)

I haven't installed any apps except Firefox (and Rember, obv.)

It still crashes.

Can anyone help me with the following questions?

1)Is it possible that it is not a RAM issue? (remember- I installed nothing but Firefox, and I even tried not installing that and using it in nothing but clean-install, out-of-the-box condition... still crashes)

2) Assuming their geniuses are correct and there is nothing wrong with the RAM, why is my beautiful baby still crashing on me?

3) Is anyone else with the new MBP C2D experiencing similar problems?

thanks :-)
