As title.
A friend of mine told me Leopard should support powerPC based model, is that true?

Of course. Apple is not dropping support for PPC that fast. 10.6 may not, but 10.5 certainly will.

Leopard will likely support all Macs made in the last 4-5 years. Leopard will be universal. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.

"Support" is flexible concept. Will <insert OS or app> run? Yes. How well said OS/app runs is an entirely different issue. No simple answers, folks must do their homework for individual workflows.

One need only peruse the Aperture Forum threads to get a feel for what an illusive concept "support" is.
