***Please move to different section if this is in the wrong area***

I just got a new hard drive for my ibook and had it installed at a local computer shop. Im trying to install OS X. I turn it on and the only thing that comes up is a folder that flashes a question mark. I put the disk in and and it runs the installer. When it gets to the "Select a Destination" there are no options to choose. I ran the system profiler and it sees the new hard drive. Am i doing something wrong??? any help would be much appriciated. Thanks.

Have you partitioned the drive? You need to do that before OSX will see it. Boot with the CD and when the OSX install starts, look at the menu options in the top and run "Disk Utility" (its a file menu up top left). Create your partition (s) and then you will be able to install.

Funny story. I have added new hard drives to 10s of mac laptops over time. Last week I added one to a 12' for the first time. It was so nerveracking for a first run (28 screws in a small space), that I was frazzled when I got it back together. I booted OSX DVD and went to intsall and....nothing. I panicked and assumed I had missed a connection or had a bad drive. I was not looking forward to taking it apart again. I took a drink and sat for 15 minutes before I realized I had not partitioned it! So I was in your shoes this time last week !!
