Not sure if this is an issue as I have no way of comparing my laptop to others. The question is does your lid close down on your new C2D Pro without any downward pressure? I fold my lid down on my laptop to close it. As it gets about an inch away from latching their is slight resistance and I have to push the lid down to latch. The edge of the lid on the latch side then has a gap (the rubber spacer on the corners doesn't touch)
When I press the latch to open it the lid pops up that inch like a spring, as if the lid is in permanent stress while latched.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

The hinge must have a spring, because mine has the same resistance too. But I believe the resistance is only apparent when the lid is almost closed. Me thinks this is normal.

Mine works the same, and seems like the way it should be.

I feel silly now. Thanks, saves me a trip to the Apple store to check. After spending £1700 you get a bit paranoid you have a perect one. My stuck red pixel I will have to ignore.

Completely normal, there is a spring in all PB's MBP's. There is a preset tension that allows the lid to "Pop" open when latch is pressed. If you want to learn more about the internal workings of your PB/MBP check out this website...

I'd be happy if my PB's and MBPs would 'spring' some more. I love it when they're new the lid really pops open well. But usually within six months the springing decreases a lot and I have to basically pull the lid open. I don't know why. I have big hands and fingers so it's not easy to get a finger in a 2 mm wide space. I'd appreciate it if the spring were stronger.
