i've posted twice before and had LITTLE succes with this- please help!

is logitech incompatible with macs? it worked for over a year, then blam, it stops working. strictly software problem, after tests,. USB works fine, the physicalmouse works fine.

then my trackpad got buggy. it helped to delete all logitech software, but then the bug resurfaces. i've never been able to remove the logitech control center icon from system preferences.

the trackpad intermittently hangs up and is not functional. THIS IS NOT OK!!!!! you know what i mean??

this all happened before current update. after the update, no changes.

i guess i should get a mac mouse. but how do i remove LCC from system prefs?

dude, it's not a virus. Your thread title is misleading. Maybe a grab at attention?

Logitech mice run fine with Macs. LCC comes with a handy uninstaller. Some people claim LCC is buggy, but I've never experienced any bugginess, and I am using all 8 mouse buttons, 4 of which are differ from their default assignments.

Because its true that every time something goes wrong its because of a virus and not a problem somewhere between the chair and the keyboard.

what would cause a trackpad to work perfectly on every square centimeter of it's surface, 95% of the time, and then snail-slow and sticky occasionally?

This may sound funny, but I have experienced this problem: my trackpad works flawlessly almost everytime. However, on certain days and under certain conditions it is jumpy and erratic and will not respond correctly. I have also observed than during these days I tend to be "charged". I mean I always produce a spark whenever I touch a doorknob or other person o even my PowerBook. Those are most of the time dry weather days and I happen to use rubber sole shoes and/or wool clothes. Since the device relies on capacitance, I believe that could alter its behavior.

Y no entienden nada... ¡y cómo se divierten!...

is it normal for OSX to start deteriorating after a time (18 months old) ? this is definitely not a hardware problem.

can anyone reccommend where i might get help getting to the root of this?

I would just back up and re-install. OSX doesn't degrade but could be affected with certain 3rd party software, like any other OS, especially if you try to remove the software withput checking to see if there is a software un-installer.

I got the cutest little Microsoft Optical mouse 3000 from Target a few days ago. works great and the little USB dongle turns the mouse off when you attach it to the underside of the mouse. Bluetooth was too much hassle; it sleeps and needs to be found everytime you switch to a different laptop. The 3000 is much better and instantly works. I thought the dongle would be a problem but it's much less of a hassle than BT.

Using the guise of having caught a virus to lure people into a thread is so not cool.

not intentional. wasn't sure of the definition. as an apple newbie, this feels more severe than a little application bug, and wasn't thinking that a virus has to spread to other computers.

what's between a bug and a virus? i've been in love with my mac for a year and a half (except that she won't hold window size or view, forgets every time) until now this trackpad thing is frightening.

i'm rather desparate. my laptop is my performance controller (music), and i'm not very computer savvy.

what would you do next, barring taking it to a technician. what could he do?

ACTUALLY , in reference to poster Nai no Kami, i do have rubber sole slippers i sometimes wear...

A bug is a mistake in a program.

A virus is a malicious self-replicating program, written with the intent of infecting as many computers as possible.

Wet fingers do not work on mousepads either, btw, in case that might be the problem.
