Hi all,

I've just bought a macbook and have a couple of 'newbie' questions about it. I use it for my side business, and have another job that I do daily.

In my working day I have it sat next to me whilst I work on my work PC. The mac has entourage open and is picking up emails for me every minute via pop3. I connect to the web via AirPort and have a connection to the wireless network here in the office. All that is fine. Just a few queries:

1) I have setup 2 profiles in Network. Home and Work. The wireless settings are all preloaded etc. When I go home it automatically connects to my home network, but here at work I need to re-establish the settings each time. Is this something to do with the SSID being hidden?
2) The sleep mode on the mac. In a perfect world I would like to leave my mac turned on with entourage open, and close the lid. This makes the mac go into sleep mode which is fine - but I would like entourage to make the sound it makes when new mail arrives - is this possible in sleep mode?
3) Also in sleep mode the mac seems to lose the Airport connection. I have plugged the mac in and left the lid open it doesn't lose the connection so I guess it's something to do with sleep mode?

Any general comments regarding the best way to work this would be much appreciated. Like I say I want the mac next to me picking up emails and for it to beep or something when an email arrives. At the moment I have to open the lid to see if an email has turned up and also to make sure the mac hasn't lost the airport connection.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
