So, I finally got the new Macbook I've been waiting for, and it has been, well, not so good. I'll do this quickly.
I am not a new Mac user; I've had three iMacs and work extensively with them at school and work. This is my first laptop, Mac or not, however.
Problems:
1. Won't connect to Internet Whenever I've installed a new Mac in my home, I've always had trouble getting into the network. With the first iMac, it said my password was invalid at the Welcome screens, and I had to wait until I was actually on the computer to manually set it up. It worked fine. Second iMac, it wouldn't accept the password, so I changed it, and boom, it worked. Third was a repeat of the second. But they all currently work fine (I'm typing this on my third iMac.)
However, the Macbook will accept the password fine, and it'll connect to the network (4 bars in Airport icon, 12 bars in Network Connect, etc.) but it will not connect to the internet no matter how close I am to the Wireless router. We use a D-Link DI-714Pt with Cox Cable, by the way. 2. Music plays oddly I used Senuti (I put it on my iPod and transferred it since I couldn't download it off the internet) to put music from my iPod into iTunes. However, 1) I can't listen to 3/4 of it because it can't authorize my computer without having a network connection, and 2) some of the music I can play plays with a weird echo/repeat sound, despite the files being fine, the iPod playing them fine, my iMac playing them fine and pulling songs off the iPod using Senuti onto my iMacs (one Intel, one not) plays fine, too. Also, it's not just the speakers because some music plays fine, and I also listened using headphones and an external speaker. So, today, I'm taking the Macbook to school to see if it'll connect to the school's network. Does anyone think the Airport card might be damaged? Thanks.

I'll take a shot at your network question: What does your System Preferences --> Network --> TCP/IP say? Are there any other computers that are able to use the D-Link router?

Your networking question belongs in the Networking forum-and as Sherman has asked, you need to provide more info so we can see what's going on.
And once you get online, download and reinstall Senuti-I'll bet it works properly with fresh (and complete) install.
No, your AirPort card is not likely to be damaged-it's more likely that there's some setting you've overlooked.
