Hi there,

I've noticed my fan is on a heck of a lot at the moment...

In Activity monitor, "Java" was at 99% CPU. Is this bad? I quit the application and the fan went off.

Sorry to sound dumb but what the heck is Java and why is it using so much of my CPU?

The only prog I had open most of today is Acquisition.

Anyone help here?

Nick

Java is a programing (or internet) language. I have no idea why it was using so much of your CPU....

so why reply?!

I'd update to the latest version of java (check SU)
I presume you're not using terminal at the time -- even if you were running a Java Applet in a browser or a Java Based Application (eg, Azerueus) it wouldn't have a Java process in activity monitor.

Azureus is run entirely on Java, that's why it's using so many resources. And for Azureus, this is pretty normal.
