have a 3-day old white 2.0ghz core 2 duo macbook.
whenever i use ichat or skype, i hear bells during videochat. even the person i'm talking to hears it too. we first thought that it's part of ichat or skype since it's like playing "jingle bells" since it's xmas season. i think there's something wrong with the built-in microphone, since the "bells" vanish whenever i cover the microphone with a finger. there's no noise inside my room whenever i use videochat.
it's very irrittating, pls help...

Are you using headphones? If not, you may be getting feedback. (this usually sounds more like an echo or whistling than jingle bells. )

If the problem persists with headphones, I'd try a headset (i.e. an external microphone) like the ones Skype recommends. The internal mic might be picking up some sounds from your computer.

Also you can try adjusting the microphone input in the sound prefs pane of system prefs (to minimize background noise)
