A couple of days ago I noticed a strange sounding noise coming from inside my MBP under the escape key (It wasn't the whine, I had that fixed long ago). It sounded like the fan was rubbing against something. I knew it was the fan because if I ran my comp at 100% it would come on in a few seconds but when I let it idle, nothing happened. A few days after the noise started, it stopped. I got happy and thought it fixed itself, so I went to play WoW. After awhile I heard some fans kick in but no noise at all from the noisy fan. I then wanted to convert a movie with Quicktime so I started to do this. It was here when I realized that the fan wasn't even working because the temperatures I had where extreme. They were averaging about 83 C and occasionally spiking to 88-90 C. I had run this comp at 100% before with an average of 75 C so I knew something was up. I ran a hardware test to see what was up and it came up with some code that I wrote down followed by left_upper-front (Must be the fan). So now I am waiting until a few days before my Winter break from school to call up apple so that they can fix my MBP that has AppleCare. I'm glad I bought the AppleCare.
