Ok, I don't know enough about Macs yet, however need the advice of experts. I own a Mac Mini, and recently purchased a used iBook. Today I replaced the internal iBook's 10gb HD with an 80gb HD. I upgraded the memory and thought I would try to install Tiger on the iBook.

It appears that the Tiger install discs are DVDs. They won't work with the iBook's CD-ROM drive. I never received the original Panther CDs with the iBook.

I thought I could make the iBook into a "target disk" but realized that won't do any good. Is there any way to install Tiger OS by attaching the iBook to the Mac Mini. I have tried connecting them via Firewire, but that doesn't do any good since the iBook has no OS.

Do I have to buy Panther CDs to install an OS on the iBook? Does anybody have any for sale at a reasonable price?

HELP!!!!!!!

Two quick questions:

1) Are you able to put the iBook into target disk mode?

2) Is the Mac Mini a PPC model?

1)If the Mac Mini is a PPC model, you can conect your ibook in target disk mode and install Tiger.
2) If you can't boot in target disk you can put your HD in an external enclosure (the mini has to be PPC)
3) Use an external DVD to install a PPC version of Tiger
