I'm selling my 14" ibook. I have a 15" powerbook. Can I copy my home folder from the ibook to the powerbook for a temporary holding place until I get an external backup? Thanks in advance for the help!

Yes, you can. If you have a firewire cable, the easiest way is to connect the firewire ports on the two computers, and then restart the powerbook while holding down the T key. This will boot it into Target Disk Mode and the powerbooks's hard drive should appear just like an external drive on your iBook, and you can transfer the files over. Hope that helps.

Cheers.

will that keep the ibook's "home" in tact or will it distribute the files to the various application? I was hoping to keep the home folder all in one place so that I may totally back it up to an external at a later date.

Yup, it will stay intact.
Try slpdLoad advice, usually home folders are too big for CD's and take forever over ethernet file sharing.

Anywhere.

Except in the PowerBook's Users folder.

Why not there? Thought that would be a logical place.
