How do you backup?
What hardware do you use?
What software do you use?
What type of Mac do you have?
What settings do you use?

I have a Macbook Pro 17.
I bought SuperDuper so that I could backup.
During format reloads, I end up doing alot of work to get things back the way that I want.
So I thought that an image would be a good idea.
Unfortunately I have not found the settings that allow me to book from my External WD MyBook via fireware and then wipe the Macbook Pro and copy the image over to the Macbook as a full restore.
I have been back and for with their support as to what type of image I need.
Still no resolution.
Any thoughts?
Also i backup on a regular basis, so updating the image is important.
Thanks in advance.

[QUOTE=solofx7;3237411]How do you backup?
By running a backup program or manually copying files to a secondary disk, either internal or external.

What hardware do you use?
I backup nightly to an internal disk, I also backup my data to the external disk and to DVD

What software do you use?
Apple's Backup

What type of Mac do you have?
Why does that matter for backing up?

What settings do you use?
The settings to tell the application to backup my home directory.

I just backup my data.

Cloning has risks too - say you suddenly have a problem that turns catastrophic. Maybe that problem has been sitting there getting worse over the course of time (which means over a number of image backup cycles). You do a restore from your image backup, you still have that problem.

How likely is that to occur? I have no idea.

I figure it takes me a 1/2 day to install OSX all of my apps and all of the updates. Then a few hours to restore the files back into my home directory (other then the library directory). That seems to me to be the safest but its also the most time consuming to getting your system back.
