Hi! I've read some of the forum topics and the debate about whether to wait or not for macworld in Jan, and I have decided to bite the bullet and buy a new mbp 2.16 (well, it'll be a gift for Christmas really) while I'm visiting my brother here in nyc for the next few days!! (I'm currently using a 550mhz g4 powerbook, which now runs very hot and loud).

However, I just had some improtant (to me!) question that I'd like to ask before I make the purchase!

1. Is it possible to connect the mbp to an older tv with no digital or s-video out? (I currently hook my computer using an s-video to RGB video out)
2. Does the mbp come with dvd burning software or do I have to buy/download software to burn data dvds?
3. (and most importantly) What type of bugs/issues/problems should I look for immediately after I buy the computer (I live in Australia and will only be in N. America for a few days, so if there are any issues, I'd like to exchange it if the one I buy is a dud before I fly back!)

Hopefully, some people can answer these questions soon as I'll be buying the computer in the next couple days!

Thanks heaps!

1. It is possible to use s-video out of your MBP, however, it requires a separate adapter.

2. You can burn data DVDs directly from the finder without any additional software. You can also burn video DVDs using iDVD which comes as part of iLife which is included with every new Mac. But if you want more flexibility, I'd recommend Roxio Toast 7.

3. It's hard to give specifics, but I'd recommend testing everything. For example, test battery life, burn some discs...etc. Just to make sure everything works. But I would recommend looking into AppleCare.
I gotta have more cowbell.
