I never use my Bluetooth feature in my MBP but I noticed today that the Bluetooth icon on the computer is greyed out with a wavy line through it. After checking Apple's website I saw that that meant no bluetooth device connected. Also, when I go into system preferences there is no bluetooth option.

The problem may have existed since I bought the computer but I never noticed because I don't use it much.

Anyone have any ideas ?

You should have Bluetooth icon under the Hardware section of your system preferences. Try typing bluetooth in the search field while in system preferences and see if anything appears.

Did that and it brought up a little menu asking to show the status of bluetooth in the menu bar and when I clicked that it said The bluetooth tab of the keyboard and mouse settings has been hidden because you do not have a bluetooth module installed or detected

Any other ideas ?

I think this means that your Bluetooth module has either gotten disconnected or has failed. Visit your local Apple Store and have 'em look at it.

There's no Apple store around so it looks like I'll be calling the 1-800 number and dealing with them

Try simply rebooting first before worrying about losing BT, resetting PRAM and the SMU in the process.
