Hello,

My friend has a powerbook g4 and recently, it has been making scratching noises. She says that when she does normal things like surf the internet, word process, etc., these sounds come out. I don't know much about mac's so I can't really help her. But you guys are great. Thanks alot.

You have to be more specific. Does it sound like fan? Is a CD/DVD in drive? Only moving parts are fan, optical drive and hard drive.

Really need more information, but it sounds like one of the fans. Is it all the time, or only sometimes? Does it happen more when the computer is busy, or randomly? Is it under warranty?

Such sounds could mean that your hard drive is gonna blow up.
