Have new owners noticed these things? I compare it mostly to my gen 1 17" ALbook b/c that was the last laptop I purchased.

My DVD drive was not set to region 1 when I took delivery. I had to set it to region 1 and now I "only" have 4 more changes left.

The trackpad button seems much stiffer and "clunkier."

The texture of the case also feels different in my hands.

The DVD drive is noisier.

My immediate impression is it is a "cheaper" build than what came out of Taiwan.
If there were no God, it would be necessary to invent him.

The DVD region is never set initially in new machines. This is the way it has always been.

The other stuff may just be you because your old machine was "broken in."
