I plan on getting a macbook with 2gb of RAM in the new year for basic day to days tuff like email, internet, word processing etc. I also want to use it to edit drawings of mine and hope to get Illustrator CS3 when it comes out.
However, when I asked at the shop (Not an Apple store, but an apple certified place) they said it wouldn't work at all on it because of the integrated graphics chip. Apparently I would need a Macbook Pro to run anything like Illustrator.
I'm confused about this as I don't see why what I need to do would require 3d graphics and since I can't afford a Macbook Pro and don't want one because of size, weight etc.
Is anyone running Illustrator or similar programmes on a macbook and do they work?
Woul anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!

I'm running all the CS apps on my Macbook with 2 GB of ram. They run great under Rosetta, they'll run even greater when they're native! Don't listen to that joe, get a MacBook. But remember that the more ram you have, the faster illustrator will be.

GMA950 in the MacBook should be fine for Illustrator CS3... I haven't seen any indications from Adobe that CS3 is going to be so GPU-heavy that GMA950 will choke.

Aperture and Motion will run, but their performance is poor (especially Motion).

Buy a lot of memory.

a new operating system with new features and maybe a true '64 bit' operating system so you could take advantage with your core duo 2. along with the new ilife suite and who knows what else. if you could wait till the second week of january, you should wait...itll be worth it in my opinion.

You're going to have to wait longer than that, it's pretty unlikely that Leopard will be released at MacWorld. Not that waiting is a bad idea, I am waiting myself. I just expect it's going to be until April-May for Leopard.

iLife '07 should be released at MacWorld though, since it has been for the last 2 years, and that's worth waiting a few weeks for.
