ok help me before i go insane. I have a 12" g3 800. When i burn a cd on 12" it burns fine but when i put the burnt cd back in the 12" it says disc is unreadable and toast 6 says its blank. My Pc reads the data on the cd fine I am stumped can anyone help me? Drive is a CRX820e with firmware 1.3d
well i patched toast 7 titanium so it works with my g3 now, it burned the data cd at 16x fine, mounted it fine but when i take the cd out and put it back in the system sees it as a blank cd-r. im lost
I also used Dragonburn 4 and it also does the same thing.
My pc reads the data on the burnt cd fine I dont understand why the Ibook which just successfully burnt the **** thing cant see anything on it afterwards.

Sounds like a problem with your drive, not the burning. Here's a few questions:
- does it read in another mac?
- can you burn a cd in a pc and read it on the ibook?
- is it data and audio? or just data? if you don't know, try burning an audio cd?
- any chance you got an external cd drive to test with?
- any chance you got an external hard drive with mac os installed to test with? (boot from that and test with it)
- have you reset pram? reset open firmware?
- have you tried creating a new account in system preferences to test?

I found a patch someone had made that allowed Toast 7 to work on a G3. according to his patch its legal. BTW I reset the nvram through the Openfirmware prompt using some instructions I found on a website and now everything is working perfect and when i burn a cd it is NOW recognized after. here is what i did
Restart computer and hold down Command-Option-O-F at open firmware prompt, type these three commands followed by return:
reset-nvram
set-defaults
reset-all
Also here is where i found the G3 patch for Toast 7 Make Toast 7 run in a G3
THE PATCH WORKS PERFECT ALSO. Toast 7 is working perfect on my G3 800 Ibook now
Dont know why the reset-nvram fixed my problem but all is good now
