Since there IS a performance difference between Core Duo processors and G4s, I think that iBooks may wind up discounted more, at least after a while. I LIKE the iBook, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd go Intel just for the speed (and other goodies that the iBook doesn't have, i.e. bigger hard drive, higher resolution screen, iSight camera, etc.).

Well some still want the ibook because some programs dont run native on Intel. Also some stores have refresh items that are around the same price as a refurb...go figure

The first MacBooks were introduced in May 2006, so technically the last generation of the iBook G4s could have shipped with iLife '06 if they shipped after MWSF '06.

It would need to be a considerable discount to make me buy an ibook....say a total price sub 500.00. Althought great machines, you would be giving up two generations of chips to buy them. Plus, anyone who has swapped hard drives in boh ibooks and Macbooks as I have would certainly see the Macbook upgrade process as a huge bonus.

Unless the program flat out won't run in Rosetta, this argument is no good as the MacBook will run most programs in Rosetta faster than the iBook can natively.

Until Apple comes out with a 12" laptop again, I'm going to be stuck using/pricing 12" PowerBooks and iBooks.
Why they dropped the 12" is beyond me. It was so PORTABLE. Now Averatec has some excellent 10" and 12" models...too bad Apple doesn't have anything in that range anymore.
