I downloaded MSN Messenger for Mac and installed it. But It will not allow me to sign on (keeps saying I need to download newr version). I did that and keep getting the same message.

Is it possible to run this on the Macbook?

My daughter prefers MSN rather than Microsoft Messenger because she wants to use the Webcam.

Thanks,

Bob

Microsoft Messenger is MSN messenger. Go to Microsofts site and download the latest version which is 6.
Webcam cannot be used with MSN on Macs with Microsofts messenger although you could try aMSN or Mercury.

Yahoo has webcam support as does Skype.

I can't solve your problem but have you tried this Adium. It is a great messanger program. You can virtually customize it anyway and it has tabbed browsing. Check it out for FREE download.

Indeed. Adium is by far the best chat program out for OSX at the moment. It supports AIM, MSN, AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, .MAC, Google Talk, and more..

I highly recommend it to all OSX users.

Link to download.

Mercury allows webcam support, and it can communicate with MSN users. I've used it in the past, its okay. I forget why I stopped, to be honest.

Naw Mercury does not compare to Adium. Mercury freezes too much. Get Adium you will not regret it.

I wouldn't recommend Adium at all. MSN support is limited. The best MSN app out there is aMSN. It feels a bit weird and non-Mac but it's the best option IMHO (especially is you update to the latest nightly build every once in a while).

what webcam models are people using? i'm having a hard time (tried logitech 5000 but the picture was off). i can't believe it would be so hard to find a decent webcam that works with OS X. TIA

If you want Webcam support, use Mercury Messenger ( Mercury - News ).

I use it and it works well. It has by far the most features in regards to MSN. Version 1.8 is the most current, but there are betas at 1.9 that work well too. for her, I would suggest use the most stable release, which is 1.8.
