My iBook's mother board dead, so I took out the HD and have it in an external enclosure. I need to get access to my old emails from M$ Office, (Entourage) I tried to opening up Entourage from my iBook HD while connected as an external HD from an iMac but it started up as if it were the first time I'd used it.
Where are they on the HD?
And how do I save them so I can open them/transfer them to a PC?

Thanks.

POP or IMAP?

IMAP w. no local folders - just configure your email client to access your mail

POP or IMAP w. some local folders: cover over the Microsoft User Data folder located in the Documents folder of your iBook's local drive.

Kind of dumb that the data store is in your Documents folder, but I guess Office has always done this.

This is exactly why IMAP and server side folders are the way to go, IMHO...

OS X Mail's aggressive caching can be a PITA, but one advantage it has is really fast IMAP access. If you are using OS X Mail and caching a local copy of your mail, I don't see any advantage in using POP over IMAP.

I believe it was POP since it was yahoo account, that I was accessing from Entourage.

I can't seem to find a folder that has any of my emails in it.
Anyone can help.

Microsoft User Data. Move it over to the documents folder of the HD you are booted from.

Did you put it in your Documents folder? The next time you start up Entourage, it should pick up this data, providing it is intact.
