This is in reference to the "Uneven Lid" thread from a short time ago. One resolution posted was to use "Wildeepz", soft cushion disks available in two different thicknesses. The idea is that with even cushions on each side, the lid closes more evenly and thus looks better. These items come 10 to a package in a price range (direct from the manufacturer) from $12.95 to $16.95. Yes, that's expensive.

Today, I was at Wal-Mart picking up some picture hanging hardware and picture frame bumpers. I had noted in the thread above that I used picture frame bumpers for a lot of things beyond pictures, but that they were too thick for this purpose. Well.... I found a product that beats the stuffing out of "Wildeepz"-for about $2.86.

This is the "Soft Touch Bumper Value Pack", UPC 074523921012.
The package includes a sheet of 30, 1cm diameter pads and 10, 2cm diameter pads which mike out at about 1.1mm thick, along with ten of the dome-shaped bumpers I wrote about earlier. What a deal!

Here's a detail of the pads so you can get an idea of their proportions:

So unless you LIKE spending more money than you need to, check out the local home store, hardware store, hobby and art store, or wherever you can find picture hanging hardware and look for this! Enjoy!

can you post a few pictures of them actually on the laptop itself and if it does its job at correcting the uneven syndrom many people are having?

Thanks.

My lid isn't uneven enough to bother with. However, they are very slightly thicker than the thin "Wildeepz", and the 1cm diameter pads are just slightly larger in diameter than either thickness. In other words, they should work fine if you have a noticeable difference in the space between your lid and base.
