Hi,

I have a first rev MBP 15" (bought in May 2006) Core Duo originally with 1GB RAM which I the other day increased to 2GB. I have had problems with whining noise and paint coming off and the local Apple Store (London, UK, Regent St) repaired this for me several months ago replacing logic board and keyboard. It became quieter but not completely gone.

The other day I upgraded the RAM to 2GB and all of a sudden there's the mooing fan noise a lot of people has experienced - I didn't have this noise before. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS! I just upgraded the RAM for Pete's sake!!!

Can someone explain this, please? The noise can be pretty tiring after a while and sometimes I even get a slight headache!

Also, does anyone know how easy it would be to get a replacement C2D even if I would pay some extra on top to get the new revision?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,

Nubben

Isn't mooing a fan rubbing or resonance issue?
