I was wondering if it was possible to operate the macbook in closed lid mode without being plugged in to a power source. Basically, all i want is to be able to close my macbook lid while its in operation and just making it turn off the screen. ive been looking everywhere for an option but i can;t seem to find it. THanks in advance.

The MacBook will go to sleep when you close the screen; Apple provides no option to change this (I'm sure you could with some hacking). If you have an external mouse plugged in, you can jiggle that to wake it up.

Unfortunately, no. When you close the screen it goes to sleep, like mduell said. Also, if you wake it up while closed without an external monitor plugged in, it goes back to sleep almost instantly. I remember an app for the iBook that would let you run it while closed, but I don't know what it was called or if it ever went Universal.
