I have a Core Duo MBP 15" and a Core 2 Duo MBP 15" and the new one has a screen that wiggles back-and-forth a lot more than the other one. The hinge seems to be loose which allows the the screen to move around a lot when I nudge it.

I think the issue is with the right side of the hinge; it has a 1/16" of play in it. It's extremely annoying though.

Is this the kind of thing that Apple would fix, or would a genius laugh at me?

I'd bring them both to an Apple store and show them the difference. What do you have to lose? Maybe they will call it "normal" --> but they would be foolish to laugh at a customer who bought 2 of their laptops in the last year.

Good point. I guess I'll bring it in. Is this normal?
